Google Ends the 16GB Android Era: What the New 32GB Minimum Means for Everyone

Google has quietly but decisively ended the era of 16GB Android smartphones. With the rollout of Android 15, any phone that wants to ship with Google apps—including essentials like the Play Store—must now have at least 32GB of internal storage and 2GB of RAM. Devices that fall below this threshold are relegated to the lighter, stripped-down Android Go Edition, or lose access to Google Mobile Services (GMS) entirely This change is more than a technical footnote. It signals a major shift in the Android ecosystem, with far-reaching implications for developers, manufacturers, retailers, marketers, and consumers alike. Why Google Raised the Bar Apps Are Heavier, Expectations Are Higher The days when 16GB could comfortably house the Android OS, a handful of apps, and some photos are long gone. Modern apps—especially those with rich media, AI features, and offline capabilities—are significantly larger. Even so-called “lite” apps have grown in size, and the Android system itself continues to ...

Why does my laptop get heated: Quick fixes that work

Have you ever wondered why  your laptop heats up to an abnormal level?

Whenever this happens, there are a number of possible reasons and it is important to act as soon as you can. Before we talk about the solutions to a heating laptop, what makes your laptop get heated?

1. Poor Ventilation.

If you work in an environment with dirt or dust, your laptop fan or vents may become clogged and prevent airflow. This affects the cooling efficency making the laptop become hot or heat up.

2. Fan Failure

Every electronic device gets damaged at some point depending on the level of usage or how it is taken care of. A laptop fan is an important part of the device and one of the most actively used part by the PC. This means it can easily stop working without any physical damage. Fan failure will mean that your laptop is not cooled and that can result to further damage to the laptop motherboard.

3. Processor settings

If you apply settings such as turbo boost, the laptop is likely to get hot due to the amount of work done by the processor.

4. Outdated Drivers.

When laptop drivers become outdated, the system becomes slow and heat up. The drivers must always to be optimized for the laptops hardware to prevent excessive heating and improve performance.

5. Running multipe applications.

Each laptop is designed to handle a certain amount of work. If you have a laptop with lower specs and run multiple, heavy apps, it is almost certain that your device will get hot or heated.

6. Placing your laptop on a flat surface

If your laptop's vents are placed on the backside/bottom, placing the laptop on a flat surface blocks the vents and affects airflow. This reduces the cooling effect and makes your laptop heat up or hot.

7. The age of your laptop.

After years of use, laptops get old, the processor power goes down and the general performance drops. Sometimes your laptop could heat not because of the above mentioned reasons but because it is old and needs to be replaced.

8. Computer Virus

Computer viruses increases the processing levels of your device and put a lot of pressure on the memory(RAM). This can cause th laptop to heat up.

9. Outdated BIOS

With an outdated BIOS(Basic Input Output System) your device will become slower and heat up more. At times, the peripherals such a mouse and a keyboard, and basic functions like sound may become dead. When this happens, don't throw away your mouse or keyboard.

How do you prevent laptop overheating?

1. Ensure you work in a clean environment or regularly clean your laptop. You can use a piece of cloth to clean off dust every morning or an electric blower to remove dust inside your laptop.

2. Update device drivers regualrly to ensure they are optimized for the laptop's hardware.

3. Use processor boosting settings sparingly(Only when needed)

4. Close background applications that are likely to get your laptop heated.

5. Run antivirus checks, try out programs like Kaspersky to scan and remove viruses

6. Buy a laptop stand(Find more opions at Marginseye). This will help raise your laptop and leave space for the vents that make sthe cooling fan effective. You can also buy a cooling fan if you have to run heavy applications.

7. Update system bios, keep an eye on your brand's website for any new BIOS updates. For common brands like HP and Lenovo, you can visit HP SUPPORT and PCSUPPORT(lenovo) respectively to get help with your device updates.

This is what I do to take good care of my Headphones - Ow-tech Solutions

Buying a headphone was one of the things I was excited about when I got my first one. Having used earphones for a long time and getting tired of the frequent cable damage, I had to make a change. The headphone was a very cheap one, the P47 wireless headphones, which is one of the most common and cheapest headphones today. I had no money but wanted to get the experience. On getting the headphone, I became a celeb in my neighborhood, all eyes on me. Let's drop the fantasizing. I used the headphone for slightly over a year. By then, the Bluetooth function was no more since the battery had been damaged, one handle was broken and patched up with insulating tape and the speakers had been repaired several times. I had no idea how to take care of the headphones. I literally learned my lesson the hard way.  From my experience, these tips can be helpful if you want to take good care of your headphones and use them for a long time. 1. If wireless, do not overcharge. If one thing is sure...
