This is What Makes Your Phone Hang Frequently and How to Fix it
How does it feel when your phone hangs abruptly when you are doing something you consider special? Our mobile phones have become a part of us in all the imaginable ways.
We have developed a connection with these devices and going even a day without your phone feels like a whole year. All electronics are delicate and phones are not left out.
Since we use our phones more than any other electronics to perform multiple tasks, hanging is inevitable not unless it is a high end device. It is however abnormal if your phones starts hanging 3 to 5 times per day.
When that happens, you should be concerned and take action before it damages the device's software.
What makes a phone hang?
There are several answers to this. The main reason for your to hang is low memory. Both storage and processing memory. When using a mobile phone with a small RAM capacity like 1GB and a lower processing power, opening more than 5 apps and leaving them running in the background can drain the device memory.
This causes stress and too much weight on the phone's processing power. The only two possible scenarios here are; app crashes or phone hangs.
In the image below for instance, 3 apps are running in the background and that together with other system functions have consumed more than 70% phone memory.
The other common causes of phone lagging and application crushes include internal memory overload, outdated device software, and virus.
How do I prevent my phone from hanging?
In order to prevent background applications from consuming your mobile phone's memory, clear any apps you're not using from the background or set your device in such a way that only foreground applications are allowed to consume memory.
You can also allow your device to crash any application the moment it is closed. This setting is available in the developer options of your phone's settings.
There are many fun and useful applications that you can download from Play store or Apple store. However, you can't download them all especially if you have less memory. Get rid of all apps and big files that you don't need.
This should be a regular activity to keep your phone's performance at its best. One of the best practices that I have learnt is that you should always leave at least 1GB free internal memory for your device.
The last cause of phone hanging is viruses. There are different types of viruses. These are acquired through activities like Bluetooth sharing(music, videos, applications carry viruses), connecting to free Wi-Fi, and visiting unsafe websites.
To remove virus from your device, download an anti-virus, scan your device and delete the detected threats. If this does not work, do a factory reset.
Getting used to free Wi-Fi connections does not only affect your phones performance through a virus, you also risk losing important information to hackers. Avoid it by all means possible.
Note: Before performing a factory reset for your device, ensure that you have backed up your information through an external storage or online. Resetting means you erase everything from your device's memory (photos, videos, contacts, applications etc.
