How long have you used your phone? A year, or two? One of the hardest things to buy is a mobile phone. You have to save for a long time or sometimes even borrow money to get one.
Since smartphones are costly to acquire and maintain it is important to take good care of the one you manage to buy.
There are certain basic but important tips that can help you use your phone for a longer period.
Let's have a look at them:
1. Dropping your phone
This might sound like a simple and common thing but it is one of the best ways to take care of your phone. I know it is unavoidable sometimes. You can't prevent your phone from dropping sometimes. This means that you can only try not to carry your phone in a way that it is likely to fall or put it on raised surfaces.
If you can't cope with that only easily forget, consider getting your phone a hard case and a screen protector. These may not be the best solution still since it only prevents the external parts of your smartphone from breaking. The internal parts can still get damaged whenever the phone gets dropped on slippery surfaces.
2. Exposing your phone to dust
Dust is everywhere and you can't control that. It is however important to ensure that your phone does not absorb too much dust.
Small particles of dust may not have any effect but when the particles accumulate, they form a layer that could block parts of your smartphone.
The most common parts that get blocked by dust include charging ports, earphone ports, phone earpieces, and mouthpieces.
Frequently cleaning your device with a soft piece of cloth can be of great help if you live in a dusty environment.
3. Water and other liquids
If there's one big enemy of electronic devices, that should be liquid substances. Not every device is waterproof. Keep your smartphone away from liquids. it doesn't really matter how much spillage there is. any amount of water or liquid on your smartphone can mess things up.
Water and other liquids may contribute to the formation of rust which can make your phone( dysfunctional)
If water gets spilled on your phone's motherboard, it stops working in 99% of cases. Ensure you dry up your phone as soon as you notice.
The rice technique is one of the common ways to dry your phone. this method requires you to put your phone in a bag of rice for 24 hours. Having the bag airtight could give better results. The other advisable thing to do is remove the phone battery(Only if it's removable)
4. Overcharging your smartphone
Apart from phone screens and charging ports, the phone battery is the other part that is likely to get damaged fast. This depends entirely on the battery capacity and the frequency at which you charge your phone.
Most technicians advise that you should never leave your battery charge to drop below 10% or charge up to 100%. This theory still has question marks all over it but trying it won't hurt.
The one common habit is leaving the phone charging overnight. Most phone batteries get charged fully within 2-3 hours, sometimes just 30 minutes when using a fast-charging phone. When you leave your phone to charge through the night till morning, it will definitely stay plugged in longer than it should.
5. Exposing your phone to heat or high temperatures.
Although not a common thing, too much heat can damage the internal parts of your phone. On one or two occasions you must have seen your phone displaying a warning of high temperatures.
This is a simple one, you only need to ensure is never left in the scorching sun or in a room with high temperatures. It could even explode.
