If you have recently switched from Windows Operating system to Linux, you must admit that it takes some getting used to for one to comfortably operate that Linux system.
From experience, it took me almost three months to getting fully used to the basic operational functions.
I still struggle with a few.
In this article, we look at how to access and stop processes o linux.
As a former Windows user, when the system hanged, i could simply press the key combinations CTRL + ALT + DEL to open the task manager and end processes.
That doesn't seem to apply to Linux, of course these are two different Operating systems. Even though in their documentations it is recorded that the same shortcut would work, it usually doesn't.
So, what do you do if you find yourself in such a scenario? Simple;
- Go to your menu option and look for System monitor.
- In this app, you will find details of all the applications currently running.
- To stop a process that seems to be problematic, click on it for the "end process" option to appear.
- You can also click on the settings button to see more details on the application you have chosen to end on view.
