Google Ends the 16GB Android Era: What the New 32GB Minimum Means for Everyone

Google has quietly but decisively ended the era of 16GB Android smartphones. With the rollout of Android 15, any phone that wants to ship with Google apps—including essentials like the Play Store—must now have at least 32GB of internal storage and 2GB of RAM. Devices that fall below this threshold are relegated to the lighter, stripped-down Android Go Edition, or lose access to Google Mobile Services (GMS) entirely This change is more than a technical footnote. It signals a major shift in the Android ecosystem, with far-reaching implications for developers, manufacturers, retailers, marketers, and consumers alike. Why Google Raised the Bar Apps Are Heavier, Expectations Are Higher The days when 16GB could comfortably house the Android OS, a handful of apps, and some photos are long gone. Modern apps—especially those with rich media, AI features, and offline capabilities—are significantly larger. Even so-called “lite” apps have grown in size, and the Android system itself continues to ...

What to look for in a laptop before buying it - 4 important features to look out for before making your order: Ow-tech Solutions

What to look for in a laptop before buying it

You have identified a laptop of your choice and you feel like it best suits your description of a great computer, the question is, is it all that good?

Today, we all need a laptop or desktop at some point be it for our daily activities at home, for learning purposes or work.

There are a number of factors that you need to put into account before buying a laptop. It all depends on what you intend to do with your laptop.

Different laptops have different specifications and performance capabilities. Listed below are some of the main features you should look for in a laptop.

1. The Storage Capacity

When buying a laptop, ask yourself these questions; How much space do I need? What sizes of files will I be storing?

Laptop hard disk storage sizes range from 80GB to 2TB. Once you already know what you expect to store, choose what best fits your needs. The storage capacity is always expandable through external drives but that comes at an extra cost which you may not be willing to incur.

 2. R.A.M(Random Access Memory) and Processer Capacities.

A slow computer becomes a burden to the user. You need to pick a laptop with a high processing power and a big R.A.M size if you are to run your programs smoothly.

Performing simple tasks like using Microsoft Office programs and a few other applications does not require much processing power and any laptop with a 4GB R.A.M and processor size or around 1.5ghz can do.

The case is different when using powerful applications like DAWs(digital Audio Work Station) software, design software like Adobe and coding software like Python or java.

When using the programs mentioned above, you need a laptop with at least 8GB R.A.M and a processor size of more than 2.5ghz. You don't want to have programs not responding and applications crashing in the middle of an important project or task.

3. Laptop Battery capacity

Laptop batteries do not hold power for long hours like those of smartphones. This is because a laptop performs more functions and therefore consumes more power. Anything between four to six hours of battery life is considered standard.

You need a good battery for your laptop to be able to use it when you have a power outage. When using a laptop whose battery cannot hold power, you are likely to lose a lot.

There are UPSs that can help with such cases but not all are reliable plus, they only stay on for a few minutes.

One of the best practices that you can take to increase your laptop battery's lifespan is trying not to overcharge it. You must not leave it plugged in to a power source once fully charged or when going to bed.

4. The cost of the Laptop.

The fourth and final factor to consider when buying a laptop is the cost. This might seem to be of little significance but it is equally important.

Buy a laptop that you can easily maintain when need arises. This means that you should research the cost of repair and spare parts before buying a laptop. This way you will be mentally prepared when anything happens. If you don't do enough research, you might end up with a dead laptop that are not able to revive.

This is what I do to take good care of my Headphones - Ow-tech Solutions

Buying a headphone was one of the things I was excited about when I got my first one. Having used earphones for a long time and getting tired of the frequent cable damage, I had to make a change. The headphone was a very cheap one, the P47 wireless headphones, which is one of the most common and cheapest headphones today. I had no money but wanted to get the experience. On getting the headphone, I became a celeb in my neighborhood, all eyes on me. Let's drop the fantasizing. I used the headphone for slightly over a year. By then, the Bluetooth function was no more since the battery had been damaged, one handle was broken and patched up with insulating tape and the speakers had been repaired several times. I had no idea how to take care of the headphones. I literally learned my lesson the hard way.  From my experience, these tips can be helpful if you want to take good care of your headphones and use them for a long time. 1. If wireless, do not overcharge. If one thing is sure...
